Taco Guitars

Taco (Tauscher & Co.) was founded by Eduard Tauscher in Erlbach, Germany in 1889. Taco grew and was famous by their violins before the WWII. After the war, Günter, one of the many sons of Eduard, got in charge of the family business. In that period, due to the guitar boom in Germany, many violin brands and makers had to concentrate and focus their production in guitars to make a living. It seems that Gottfried Uebel, an Eduard grandson, was behind the guitar production for Taco or at least a big part of it. Uebel made stuff also for Migma, Goldklang and maybe other dealers too. Uebel was one of those makers with an own design style, though he followed the usual Vogtland building trends of those years, his guitars have an unique personality and are somewhat recognizable in most cases besides the brands on them or the absence of brands and markings at all.
